Amending Agreement Pertaining to the Agreement to Support the Success of First Nations Students
First Nations Education Council, represented by Ghislain Picard, Chief of the Assembly of the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador,
the Government of Quebec, represented by the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports, the Minister responsible for Higher Education, the Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs and the Minister responsible for Canadian Relations and the Canadian Francophonie,
Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development
Hereinafter called "the Parties"
WHEREAS on May 4, 2012, the Parties entered into the Agreement to Support the Success of First Nations Students (hereinafter "the Agreement");
WHEREAS the term of the Agreement is five years and will expire on May 3, 2017;
WHEREAS article 15 of the Agreement stipulates that "six (6) months before the expiry of this Agreement, the Parties may decide to renew it";
WHEREAS the Parties wish to continue to collaborate with each other by extending the Agreement in order to ensure the academic success of First Nations students.
THE PARTIES AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Articles 13, 14 and 15 of the Agreement to Support the Success of First Nations Students are deleted and replaced by the following articles:
- 13. Termination
A Party may terminate this Agreement upon written notice of at least sixty (60) days and by providing its reasons for terminating this Agreement.
- 14. Term
This Agreement shall take effect upon signature by all Parties and, subject to termination, will remain in effect until May 3, 2022.
- 15. Renewal and Amendment of Agreement
This Agreement shall automatically renew at the end of every five (5) years, for an additional period of five (5) years, unless a Party provides to the other Parties, at least six (6) months prior to the renewal date, notice of its intention not to renew the Agreement or unless, pursuant to article 13, a Party at any time has provided notice to terminate the Agreement.
- Any provision of this Agreement may be amended by an agreement in writing signed by the Parties.
- 13. Termination
- Article 6 of Appendix I, entitled Joint Action Plan, is deleted and replaced by the following article:
- 6. Duration
The duration of the Joint Action Plan is equivalent to that of this Agreement.

- Lac Simon
- This Amending Agreement shall take effect on the date on which it is signed by all Parties.
