The Pelican Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan saw a need for a school nutrition program because, for many different reasons, children were coming to class in the morning without having had a morning meal. The NCBR provided project funding of $35,000/year. The program administrators reported that for many of the students, the nutrition program had a noticeable positive impact in that the children came to school earlier and their mood was better during the mornings. The administrators reported that 240 students benefited from the project.
