Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) has 3 policies associated with its Northern Contaminated Sites Program.

The Northern Affairs Program Environment, Health and Safety Policy provides direction in meeting the requirements of the Canada Labour Code. It ensures that staff, contractors, visitors, and local communities are not adversely impacted by environmental, health, and/or safety risks associated with contaminated sites.

Mine site reclamation policies provide a resource management tool to ensure that mining operations do not leave a legacy of environmental and human health hazards and a financial burden on the Canadian taxpayer.
