Graham Baptiste

AANDC has many tools and mechanisms for training, mentorship and career programs for front line staff, like myself, to keep pace with the fast changing environment within the Northwest Territories. I am currently pursuing further studies, and working towards my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which is recognized internationally. I decided to take this route after both the Committee for Advancement of Native Employees (CANE) and AANDC provided funding for me to attend and obtain my certificate in Project Management.

I am originally from Déline (born and raised) and I speak, write and read the North Slavey language fluently. I find that an integral part of my job is to know the customs and traditions of each Aboriginal organization I deal with, while respecting community or regional differences.

I joined AANDC after working for the Déline First Nation for two years as both Finance Officer and Band Manager. This experience allows me to understand and gain insights on both the First Nation Government and Government of Canada first hand.
