Information for First Nation Administration

Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) transfers funds to First Nations and First Nations organisations for the delivery of programs and services on reserve. Since reserve land is owned by the Government of Canada (Crown) on behalf of First Nations, INAC is also involved in some aspects of the management of reserve lands according to the Indian Act.

INAC focuses on building government to government relationships and fostering effective First Nations governance as a foundation for self-reliant communities.
