Métis

Métis are one of three recognized Aboriginal peoples in Canada, along with Indians (more commonly refrred to as First Nations) and Inuit.

According to the 2011 National Household Survey, 418,380 Canadians self-identified as Métis. The breakdown by province and territories is as follows:

Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) provides funding to representative Métis and Non-Status Indian Indigenous organizations, so they can represent their constituents.
