National Funding Agreement Models
Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) has published the 2017-2018 national funding agreement models below in order to ensure there are no funding delays for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
A New Fiscal Relationship
The Government of Canada is working towards forging a new fiscal relationship that gives Indigenous communities have sufficient, predictable and sustained funding.
One of the first steps in building this nation-to-nation relationship is the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between INAC and the Assembly of First Nations in July 2016. Funding agreements are one component of this MOU.
In light of the MOU process and other ongoing conversations with other Indigenous partners, INAC has introduced minor updates to the models and will work collaboratively to propose changes for future year’s models.
