Kerry Newkirk joined the Yukon Region as the Regional Director General (RDG) in August of 2011. Kerry grew up in Halifax, but spent the last 15 years in Ottawa. Kerry and his family are excited to now call Yukon home!
Kerry has been with the Public Service for 10 years. In his previous position he was the Director of Oil and Gas Management with the Northern Oil and Gas Branch of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada. He has held positions at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Environment Canada, and the Canadian Wildlife Federation. He has done work on species at risk, land use planning, partnership approaches to joint management and other corporate functions.
Kerry holds both a Masters and a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
