Message from Minister Duncan

Colleagues:

I am very honoured to be appointed as Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development. Since my first appointment in August 2010, I have had the unique opportunity to build important relationships with Northerners and Aboriginal leaders across Canada, sign important tripartite agreements on issues such as education and child and family services, and engage in dialogue and cooperation with First Nation, Inuit and Métis people. I have also had the great privilege to get to know and work with many of you in the AAND family. I appreciate the work you do and thank you for your hard work and dedication. Your knowledge and expertise has helped both me, and my staff to make progress on issues of importance to Aboriginal people and communities, and Northern residents. I know we have accomplished a lot in the last eight months and I am looking forward to continuing our important work to achieve real and tangible results.
