OTTAWA, ONTARIO (December 22, 2010) - The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians, announced today that Bob Cameron has been appointed to serve a term of three years as Yukon Administrator.
"I am pleased that Mr. Cameron will serve as Yukon Administrator," said Minister Duncan. "Mr. Cameron spent his formative years living in the Yukon and brings his first-hand knowledge of the Yukon and enthusiasm for the history of the territory to his role as Administrator."
The Administrator of Yukon acts in the place of the Commissioner of Yukon if the Commissioner is unable to fulfill his or her duties during an absence or illness or other inability, or when the office is vacant. The Yukon Act establishes the position. This appointment is effective upon Mr. Cameron taking the Oaths of Office and Allegiance.
