Negotiating Comprehensive Claims/Self-Government Agreements     

The process for completing self government /comprehensive claim agreements follows these six steps:

• Submission of Claim
• Acceptance
• Framework agreement
• Agreement in Principle (AIP)
• Final agreement and Ratification
• Implementation

The process for negotiating claims in British Columbia is different from elsewhere in the country. The British Columbia Treaty Commission (BCTC)  provides further information on this process.
