Funding Agreements

Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) maintains national models of funding agreements. These models are used to transfer funding to First Nations which have not entered into their own self-government agreements, Tribal Councils, Inuit, Métis and Northern communities and other recipients.

A new suite of national funding agreement models have been developed in order to comply with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) 2008 Policy and Directive on Transfer Payments. To ensure consistency, these new funding agreement models have been developed using the same basic structure as past models and therefore incorporate the following features:

  • Accommodate both annual and multi-year funding agreements;
  • Policy related sections are mainly found in the main body of the agreements; and
  • Program related sections such as program delivery standards and requirements are found in separate schedules of the agreement.
