Diamonds International Canada (DICAN) Limited, a Yellowknife-based firm, has won the contract to be Canada's federal government diamond valuator (GDV) for diamond production in Nunavut. It is also the current GDV in the Northwest Territories.
DICAN is a partnership between Yellowknife based Aboriginal Diamonds Group Limited (ADG) and WWW International Diamond Consultants Limited (WWW), which is based in London, England.
ADG holds 51 per cent of DICAN ownership, while WWW holds 49 per cent. ADG is owned by Nishi Khon Enterprises Inc., Deton'Cho Corporation, and Kitikmeot Corporation. These corporations represent the business interests of the Tlicho Nation, the Yellowknife Dene First Nation and Kitikmeot Inuit Association, respectively.
WWW is a privately-owned British corporation composed of an international team of rough diamond valuators and rough diamond industry consultants and specialists. WWW contributes its technical expertise and management experience to DICAN and the principals of ADG handle the Canadian administration of DICAN. DICAN arranges for a transfer of technical knowledge and abilities to Canadians in general, as well as members of ADG and officials from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
