Backgrounder - About the Project

Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and the Government of Yukon (YG) are jointly funding the creation of an innovative internet portal as part of ongoing efforts to promote mineral exploration and investment in Yukon's mineral industry. Promoting the mineral industry is a major part of ongoing economic development efforts in Yukon. SINED funding totals $243,970 in 2008/09 and YG is supplying an additional $50,000 for a total project cost of $293,970.

The web portal will complement and consolidate existing Internet information sources and will help maximize economic opportunities for Northerners by centralizing information in one easy-to-access location. The web portal will be a current and efficient source for information about Yukon's mineral industry, targeting both potential investors and current members of the industry.
